A 151,000 square foot building is planned for a new Walmart store in Sun Prairie. The old store will remain open during constructions. Construction will begin in late Spring or early Summer of 2012 wth anticipated opening in early Summer of 2013. New Walmart store will be open 24 hours a day. The store will have a Grocery section on the West side and a Garden Center on the East side as well as general merchandice. The store will employ between 250 and 300 Full and part time employees.
The new Sun Prairie Walmart, like all new Walmart stores, will include energy-efficient technology and environmentally friendly features to reduce energy and water consumption and minimize waste. The store’s skylights will harvest daylight and reduce the amount of energy required to light the store by up to 75 percent daily. LED lighting in the store will operate 70 percent more efficiently than traditional fluorescent lighting. Low-flow toilets and faucets will reduce the water used in the bathrooms (unless you have to flush twice).
